Dear ODCS members,
On November 13th, 2022, the Old Dominion Chrysanthemum Society held the annual meeting and luncheon at Sampan Café in Springfield, Virginia. There were 30 attendees including friends and family of members. We enjoyed great food and company. The nominated candidates were voted in, the continuity of the club was ensured. The officers for 2023 are Camilla Ng as President, Ed Mascali as Vice-President, Galen Goss as Treasurer and Janice Chen as Correspondence Secretary. Thank you everyone for giving us the privilege to serve you.
Janice Chen was presented with the ODCS Member of the Year Award. The award letter read, in part: “You stepped up this year to learn about the organization and to help at many activities. Your contributions have been at our potting activities, plant sales, and at our show. Your entries in the show were excellent as evidenced by the ribbons you won, including two entries that were on the top awards table. You attended many of the Youth Program mentoring sessions to further your own knowledge of growing and caring for mums.
Your enthusiasm and willingness to learn and contribute serve as an inspiration to us all.” Congratulations Janice!
Galen emailed the Plants Order Form and Membership Form and image files of Garden, Pot and Heritage mums to everyone on November 14th. A reminder that your Plant Orders, Membership Form and check must be post marked by December 3rd, mailed to Farhad Nourbakhsh. If you are a new member, you have already paid the 2023 membership dues. Just mark on the Membership Form “dues paid, New Member”. All others who are renewing, please add your $30 membership to the total of your Plant Order, in one check, written to ODCS. Your Plant Order will not be processed unless the 2023 membership duesis included.
We will take a winter hiatus and resume our monthly Zoom meeting on the second Sunday of the month starting February. Please save-the-date, Sunday, February 12th, 2023, 2:00PM. Zoom Meeting information will be emailed to you as the date draws near.
Wish everyone a merry and peaceful Christmas and New Year.
