Dear ODCS members,
It is September. By now, the plants that are shaded for 12 hours should begin to show signs of bud setting. With bated breath, we watch with anticipation.
At the August Zoom meeting, Ed Mascali reviewed the week response and shading information. Per interest from some members on growing sprays, I gave a presentation on “NCS Sprays.” Growing sprays is an advance skill as it requires disbudding each axillary bud that grows from the leaf on the stem. Judging criteria for NCS sprays were reviewed. If you have missed the August Zoom Meeting, you may watch the recording until September 10th, 2022. Galen has sent the recording link to everyone by email on August 14th.
Sunday, September 10th will be our next Zoom meeting. Pat Stockett Johnston’s short video on “September/October Tasks”and David Eigenbrode’s “Magic with Mums, Part 3” (on cutting and showing) will be screened. We will also review the pertinent information in the show schedule.
There will not be a general meeting in October, but we look forward to seeing you and your blooms at the Chrysanthemum Show.
